I know pretty much F all about politics so I'm probably so far off the track here but what I never get is that time and time again the far right make a good in an election. Happened here in UK, Germany, Italy, Spain and smaller instances like the the far right mayor in Norway (I think it was) etc. I'd imagine it's more a protest vote on a single topic that is upsetting a good number of people in the country rather than that many people actually wanting these people in power. So why don't the proper parties change their policies, just a little, to attract these protesters back. They don't have to take a far right stance, they can just attempt to address the issues that is irking so many people. Look at controlled immigration and improving the current services in place and so on to sate them and steal a ton of voters back. Instead they denounce whatever party it is and move even further away from it so further alienating those protest votes. Half the people want something so surely that's a sign that they need to address their policies for the entire country rather than pushing them further away.

The situation is only getting worse so doesn't take a genius to see it's not going to be long before the far right starts winning and no one wants that surely?

I imagine the farmers with bombs raining down on them don't see much difference, was that too subtle?

I dont claim to be an expert myself, but I'd guess it is partly because the established parties fear that if they give way on the kinds of issues you mention then they would alienate other lots of voters, so they think they would be robbing Peter to pay Paul as the saying goes. For example better public services is obviously popular with public sector employees, but not with private sector voters if it means raising taxes.

Also, incredible as it sounds, over time long-established politicians and parties get out of touch with changes in public opinion or underestimate its size and significance, especially if it is an opinion not congenial to them. You'd think they would have political antennae the size of Jodrell Bank, attuned to the slightest changing trends, but bafflingly despit polls they don't always fully recognise growing threats until it is too late. I guess it is the political equivalent of Blockbuster Vidoes not responding in time to YouTube and the like, because they had so much tied up in their existing business model.

I doubt anyone would describe you as subtle, vetran.

Well Trump & Obama are apparently.

Similar messages were also shared by activists and journalists, including The New York Times’ editor-in-chief Jake Silverstein.

Barack Obama’s former speechwriter, Jon Favreau, was one of the most notable figures to share them.

“This is happening right now, and the only debate that matters is how we force our government to get these kids back to their families as fast as humanly possible,” Favreau wrote in a tweet, which has since been deleted.

But the photos are actually from 2014 — when Obama was president.

Can't be a*d to do any proper research as usual but some of her policies look crazy - "exempting people under 30 from paying income tax" WTF?
